Mesa Verde, Colorado, April 2006 - Page F

Mesa Verde is celebrating its centennial as a national park this year. It is the home a many different ancient dwellings of the ancestral Puebloan people (often called the Anasazi). These communities flourished over 800 years ago. The elevation of the top of the mesa is over 7,000 feet.

Farview Communities

These structures are on top of the mesa. It was an active community from around 900 to 1300. In this half mnile square area, almost 50 villages have been found. The elevation here is approximately 7,700 feet.
