Entering Utah & Nine Mile Canyon - Page A

As you leave Nevada going north on Interstate 15, you come into the Virgin River Gorge. The Virgin River also goes through Zion National Park.

This was on April 21, 2006.

I joined up with the Nez family to visit some of the beautiful sites in Utah and Colorado. We left on April 22, 2006 and headed toward Price, Utah.

Nine Mile Canyon is northeast of Price and Wellington, Utah. Contrary to its name, it is really forty miles long. It can be reached by graded, dirt roads.

According to the official brochures, the area has been occupied for at least 8,000 years. People from the ancient Fremont Culture and modern Utes have lived here.

Click here to see a map of the area. It is the road near Wellington.

Tristan and Shandiin Nez can give you some perspective on the size of these glyphs. We made sure they did not touch the glyphs.
