March 2002 newsletter update--- Phil Konstantin XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX START OF THE UPDATE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hi, Just a brief update. It occurs to me that sending brief updates really does mean the newsletter is "back to normal." Raven is an e-mail friend of mine. She is very active in politics here in California. She sent me the following e-mail, which I am happy to send along to all of you. Regardless of your political beliefs, I strongly encourage you to make your voice heard through your vote. For what it is worth, my college degree is in Political Science, not History. Here is Raven's e-mail: "thanks for the update. Please remind everyone you know to vote on Tuesday, March 5. This primary is an important opportunity and test of the commitment of Indian people to turn out at the polls. When we increase the number of votes cast, it builds strength to our argument that we will participate in the system and elect legislators that will LISTEN to Indian country. It is far more important to turn out the votes then to write a check. We have a terrific opportunity in Arizona to elect the first native American woman to congress. Debora is a member of the Navajo nation, a three term legislator in the Arizona assembly - an extremely qualified native woman who can and does step up to the plate for Indian country. Debora is also a member of our Native American Caucus here in California. thanks raven " XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX END OF THE UPDATE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
