  Hi,

  If you have tried to visit my site in the last weeek, you may have seen 
  a page which had this message:

  "Temporarily Unavailable

  The Tripod site you are trying to reach has been temporarily suspended 
  due to excessive bandwidth consumption. 

  The site will be available again in approximately 2 hours!"


  Tripod is where I have had my site for the last six years. During that 
  time, they have provided a very good service, at no extra cost. Al I 
  have had to do is allow their ads to show up on my sites. The address of 
  http://americanindian.net is redirected to my site at Tripod ( 
  http://philkon.tripod.com ) . Tripod offers websites for free. It seems 
  Tripod has changed the way it does business. They are now limiting the 
  daily "bandwidth" of each of their sites.

  Another quote from Tripod:

  "What is bandwidth?

  Bandwidth is the amount of data that is used to transfer a member's Web 
  page (including the HTML, graphics, text, sound files, etc.) from the 
  host server to the person viewing the page. If the contents of the page 
  equals 1 MB, and the page is viewed 100 times in one day, the total 
  bandwidth would be 100 MB."

  Since my pages get anywhere from 500 to 5,000 visitors a day, my 
  bandwidth is pretty high. I was unaware Tripod had made this change. 
  otherwise I would have warned you in advance. I believe this is a money 
  making decision for Tripod, since they will sell their members more 
  bandwidth. I am trying to avoid having to pay a monthly fee for my 
  website, since everything on it is free, and the few money generating 
  links I have make VERY little money. I am trying to find ways to limit 
  the bandwidth useage and more importantly the number of times you will 
  see the "Temporarily Unavailable" message.
