David Morrell

David Morrell's new novel, THE SHIMMER is inspired by the real-life phenomena known
as the Marfa Lights in west Texas. There are only three other remote locations throughout
the world where people have witnessed a similar phenomenon -- a small village in Norway,
a remote part of Thailand, and a rugged part of Australia. Researchers have been
unable to determine what causes these mysterious lights, but people in Texas have
reported sightings dating back to the 1880s.

In THE SHIMMER, Morrell takes readers on a terrifying journey and
demonstrates how a thing of beauty can also be a thing of great danger. I'm
writing today to see if you plan on reviewing THE SHIMMER and/or to see if
you would be interested in scheduling an interview with David to discuss the
real-life story behind this novel. He will be traveling to San Diego on July
17th where he will be giving a talk & signing at Mysterious Galaxay at 7pm.
I hope you will consider an interview with him.

David Morrell is considered to be "the father of the modern action novel,"
and with good reason. In a writing career spanning nearly four decades, this
New York Times bestselling author has written such highly acclaimed
thrillers as First Blood (the basis for the Rambo movies) , The Brotherhood of
the Rose, Creepers, Scavenger, and The Spy Who Came for Christmas.

With eighteen million copies in print, his work has been translated into
twenty-six languages. And on July 11, 2009, he will receive the prestigious
ThrillerMaster Award for his outstanding contributions to the thriller
genre.

THE SHIMMER has already received rave reviews, including:

"David Morrell's THE SHIMMER showcases a master storyteller at his finest.
Mysterious lights, an isolated research facility, and a cast of characters
as real as your next-door neighbors elevate this techno-thriller into a
masterpiece of suspense, intrigue, and terror. Once cracked open, the book
demands to be read in one sitting."

-James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Oracle

"It would be easier to explain the phenomena of the Marfa lights than it
would be to explain the storytelling genius of David Morrell. It's simply
that - genius. Never does it shine through more vividly than in THE
SHIMMER."

-Sandra Brown, New York Times bestselling author of Smoke Screen

"David Morrell is, to me, the finest thriller writer living today, bar
none."

-Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author of the Charlemagne Pursuit

"Morrell, known as the father of the modern action novel, fleshes out his
usual action-packed style with a surprisingly delicate love story in this
tale inspired in part by the true-life Marfa Lights in Texas." --Library
Journal
