Mountain Meadows Massacre Site in Utah

We were driving from St. George to Ely, Nevada, when I saw the sign on the side of the road. While I had some vague idea that this event occured in southwestern Utah, I had forgotten where. Serendipity led to this side trip.

The site is just off to the west of Utah State Highway 18, between Enterprise and Central, northwest of St. George, Utah.

Here is a Google map which shows the Mountain Massacre lookout & memorial next to Utah State Route 18. The road going toward the bottom of the map leads to the burial site.
