The following pictures are from the "ruins" of Teotihuacan, north of Mexico City.

Teotihuacan is about 30 miles north of Mexico City. The names roughly translates as "the place were gods were born." Construction is believed to have begun around 100 BC. It was not built by the Aztecs. They arrived here many hundreds of years later.

The view above is looking north from the end of the "Avenue of the Dead."

The picture above is in the plaza surrounding the The Citadel (foreground) and the Temple of Quetzlcoatl.

more of the plaza...

The western edge of the plaza. The Pyramid of the Sun is in the background.

The western face of the Temple of Quetzlcoatl.

The picture below is a closeup of the face of Tlaloc (associated with rain)

The picture above is of Quetzalcoatl, or the Feathered Serpent.

This is the Pyramid of the Sun (right) and the Moon (left)

This is a closer view of the Pyramid of the Sun.

This picture of the Pyramid Of The Sun was taken in 1880 by Désiré Charnay.

There are almost 250 steps to the top. It is 210 feet high, and 730 feet long at the base.

This was on the top of the Pyramid of the Sun, why it says Pyramind of the Moon, I do not know.

The Pyramind of the Moon from the top of the Pyramid of the Sun.

This is just some guy named Phil.

Steep, isn't it!
Steep, isn´t it!

Even with all of the work done here, plants still seek to grow on the pyramid.

Above is the east side of the Pyramid.
