Big Waves in La Jolla, California on December 21, 2005
In the upper left of this picture is the La Jolla Children's Pool
The railing here is about 4 feet high.
These pictures are from La Jolla Cove. Some of the waves had up to 20 foot faces. While I was there, none of the surfers in the water actually rode any of these waves.
You can see the head of one of the local surfers just above this wave.
There was LOTS of spray coming off the tops of these waves.
The white water area was very big.
This is some of the spray coming up from the waves crashing on the rocks.
This long distance shot of the Children's Pool (center of the picture) was taken from the Cove.
