Tuesday October 2, 2007 - The White House “Drug Czar,” Director of the National Drug Control Policy, John P. Walters, will be in San Diego this week for a series of meetings and briefings with State and local officials; and to release a big Southwest Border Initiative and talk about drug shortages across the country.

Director Walters plans on discussing substance abuse prevention and treatment programs, as well as some recent law enforcement operations (with national and/or international links).


* Teen drug use is down 23% in the last 5 years.

* Prescription drug abuse is going up in America especially among teens and especially among teenage girls

* The reason he is in San Diego is announce huge amount of progress in the southwest border in cracking down against Mexican drug cartels in cooperation with México to help stop the flow of drug flow to the US. As a result there is a cocaine shortages and cocaine availability went down in 37 cities.
